Recently I attended a wedding and met a woman who was over 80 years old. She told me that she just learned to use e-mail so she could communicate with her family now that they were so far apart. Not only that but she swims almost every day.
This was my turning point. I don’t plan on falling back into the “I have know clue what to do with myself” rut again. If anything it will be a “I have no clue what not to do with myself” rut.
Based on observations at work and in everyday life, I have come to the conclusion that learning keeps you young. When you stop challenging your mind it has no reason to really work beyond the basics.
What a cool old lady! I have noticed, myself included, that so few people know what they want to be when they grow up. So, I guess I’ll have to keep learning so I can stay young until I know what I want to do.
